Title

"Dear R*****, time with rapid Wings"

Description

Dear R*****, time with rapid wings,

Has swept another year away:

Like all earth's transitory things,

That wither and decay.

Since last year's dawn of friendship's chain,

That binds man to his fellow man,

How many links have broke in twain,

And parted - ne'er to join again

    In this life's narrow span!

But you and I, through many years,

Our friendship still the same has stood;

We are not sway'ed by worldly fears -

We're friends in spite of hope or fear,

    Through evil, and through good.

This humble tribute pray receive -

From a warm heart it springs,

And this small token and believe,

They're friendship's offering.
