Morning and Evening Songs

Dublin Core

Title

Morning and Evening Songs

Description

Dedicated to little George, and other children.

MORNING SONG.
I.
The shades of night are fled,

The sun lights up the sky,

And I have left my downy bed,

To praise the God on high.

II.
To him my prayers ascend,

To him my thanks be given,

Him will I love, till life shall end,

Then sing his praise in heaven.

EVENING SONG.
I.
'Tis God who makes the shining day,

'Tis God who makes the night,

'Tis God who sends the sun away,

And all he does is right.

II.
To him a song of love I'll raise,

Before I rest my head,

My heart and tongue shall sing his praise,

And then I'll go to bed.

III.
O, praise him! praise him! little boys,

Ye girls attune the lay,

'Tis God who sends your childish joys,

Each night and ev'ry day.
