Little Child's Morning Prayer

Title

Little Child's Morning Prayer

Description

Savior hear a little child
Offer thee a morning prayer:
Change my heart and make it mild,
That all may see thy image there.
Didst thou hear my evening prayer,
And let me sleep upon thy breast?
Was my health and life thy care.
That in sleep I sweet did rest?
Hast thou wash'd me in thy blood?
Hast thou cleansed me from all sin?
Jesus thy rich atoning blood,
Can make all pure and clean within.
Savior change this heart of mine;
Redeem and save me through thy blood;
Pardon my sin - and own me thine,
And make me holy, wise and good. - AMEN.

From the New York Evangelist: Brother Johnson - Some weeks ago I prepared a short evening prayer for my little child, not three years old, which she soon committed to memory and appeared to say with great delight. At the request of her mother, I have lately prepared a corresponding prayer for the morning. The though that these little prayers might afford profit to other little children, has induced me to send them to you for a place in your valuable paper.
