Title
Morning Song Composed for the Male and Female Seminary of Philadelphia
Description
The rising sun in splendor shines,
O! let us now, and ever raise,
For he it is who bids the light
Let us each morning haste to school,
-----
BY THE TEACHER.
Come, now, and round the altar cling,
And bids the morn appear
In all the brightness God designs,For us his creatures here.
O! let us now, and ever raise,
Our youthful voices high;
O! let us every morning praiseOur God who's ever nigh.
For he it is who bids the light
His majesty display.
'Tis he who doth dispel the night,And forms another day.
Let us each morning haste to school,
Improve our growing mind,
Obey our teacher's every rule,And all his precepts kind.
-----
BY THE TEACHER.
Come, now, and round the altar cling,
And meekly bending say,
Lord, our kind, our heavenly King.O! teach us how to pray.
