'Mid Night's Sweet Calm: Rondo
Dublin Core
Title
'Mid Night's Sweet Calm: Rondo
Description
'Mid night's sweet calm, when day in sleep
Doth feel the breadth and lengthened sweep
Of Time's grim chase to catch the years,
There comes to Earth the chiding fears
Those thuds of woeful pain that steep
The soul in deepest doubts - the tears
Of Faith whose wan sweet face appears
'Tis then the soul would madly leap
From Earth, would eadly, blindy weep
The night away. O, light that clears
The shadows, Joy that cleans and cheers
The heart, thou must my soul's peace keep
Doth feel the breadth and lengthened sweep
Of Time's grim chase to catch the years,
There comes to Earth the chiding fears
That revel in the starry deep
Those thuds of woeful pain that steep
The soul in deepest doubts - the tears
Of Faith whose wan sweet face appears
'Mid night's sweet calm.
'Tis then the soul would madly leap
From Earth, would eadly, blindy weep
The night away. O, light that clears
The shadows, Joy that cleans and cheers
The heart, thou must my soul's peace keep
'Mid night's sweet calm.
