The Evening Star

Title

The Evening Star

Description

How gloriously it beameth,

With twinkling, silver ray,

Resplendent in its beauty,

To light us on our way.

Though oft the clouds are heavy,

And shadows cast before,

That star on all was shining,

From hut to palace door.

The firmament above us,

How mystical it seems;

It passeth understanding,

And holds our waking dreams.

Each orb that shines and sparkles,

In the far distant sky,

A mission tells of duty,

E'en now and bye and bye.

Our star of life is beaming,

When dark the clouds appear,<.p> Though mountains rise before us,

They vanish in the air.

This life is what we make it,

A pleasure or a pain,

And whilst we do our duty,

We cannot live in vain.

We, too, can shine in beauty,

This life to cheer and bless,

To make the world much brighter,

And wish its burdens less.

Shine on, bright star of heaven,

Your mission to perform,

To guide us on our journey,

Throughout life's gathering storm.
