Washington

Description

Magnificent! Magnificent, Thou Queen
Of cities! My every thought is fond and true
In loving memories of thee! And through
The mists of coming years, through trembling sheen
Of mystic shade dream-bound where morn is seen
To lift the veil of Night that Day might strew
Our paths with joy, I feel the spell which drew
My life to you and yours. What strength to lean
On arm of kindly memory! And far
More sweet to find at every ford you cross
The thought you wish for most, the dream
You hold most dear. I love the gifts which seem
To reach my soul with good - much gain, no loss.
Thy men are brave and fair thy women are.
