Title
I Dreamed of You
Description
I dreamed of you the other night
A little dream, and yet so bright,
It made me happy all the day,
Thinking how kindly was the way
You took my hand and pressed it oft
Upon your lips so fresh and soft:
Then smoothing from my face the hair
That is so often falling there,
You drew my head upon your breast,
Whispering low—Dearest and best
'Twas but a dream, a simple dream,
And yet, so life-like did it seem,
I shall treasure it ah! long and well,
Far, far away in memory's cell.
A little dream, and yet so bright,
It made me happy all the day,
Thinking how kindly was the way
You took my hand and pressed it oft
Upon your lips so fresh and soft:
Then smoothing from my face the hair
That is so often falling there,
You drew my head upon your breast,
Whispering low—Dearest and best
'Twas but a dream, a simple dream,
And yet, so life-like did it seem,
I shall treasure it ah! long and well,
Far, far away in memory's cell.
